Welcome to the first Poetic Thursday of 2024! Joining Pam and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, every Thursday for some poetry is one of my favorite blogging things to do.
Here’s the cute photo they gave us for our first inspiration of the New Year:

And here’s my poem:
Catch A Flake
Remember winters when you were young:
and catching snowflakes on your tongue.
Then Mom would call, you’d come ‘melting’ in,
but couldn’t wait to go back out again.
Your fingers were numb, and so were your toes,
and you were sporting a “Rudolph” nose.
Then we grew up, and snow wasn’t fun;
it was hard to travel and get things done.
But here’s something you need to hear today:
your inner child still wants to play.
So the next time it snows, for old times’ sake,
let’s run outside and ‘catch a flake’.
~These Days Of Mine~

Yes indeed – some things like catching snowflakes on your tongue should NOT be “age-restricted” ! I still do it and I’m old as dirt! Thanks for participating in Poetry Thursday……….
Pam
Oh, YES!!! I’d LOVE to see some snow – and not just for a snow day from school! I like to watch it fall – hypnotizing! Thanks for the dream to chase and the memory to recall.
You are so right. We look at snow a lot different now. Great poem.
Very nice, and very true … what a difference … this reminds me of that campbells soup commercial from the 80s or 90s where the small snowman comes in from outside and sits down to a hot bowl of soup – and as he eats, the snow melts to reveal a boy … good memories !
Cute poem! I’d love to run outside and catch a flake on my tongue, but this darn viral flu bug has me still in its clutches.
