This little garden and fence, in downtown Smithfield…

There’s even a sweet little sign that welcomes garden visitors.

An Easter (Basket) Memory

It’s been awhile since I participated in Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop, but this week, I’m back, and I chose this prompt:

1.) An Easter memory

While looking through some old photos recently, I came across this one of Marshall. (And I hesitate to use the phrase “old photo” when it’s a picture of my child.)  This was taken Easter morning when he was almost five.

I love the tousled hair of a little boy not long out of bed. (In fact, he’s sitting on his bed with the Peanuts gang sheets.)

When he was five, Marshall was really “into” Superhero action figures. I see Wonder Woman there by his foot. He’ll have to leave a comment here to tell us which one he’s holding in his hand.

At age five, you still aren’t too old for a stuffed bunny in your Easter basket, and who doesn’t love Skittles?

I don’t recall getting Easter baskets when I was growing up, but it was always fun to put together ones for Marshall when he was a little boy.

One little picture – so many memories.

A Really Big Barn (Charm)

Today’s featured barn was one we saw on our trip to Sperryville a couple of weeks ago. I’m sorry I didn’t make note of what town it was near.

This is a HUGE barn. It was difficult for us to really get a good picture of it from the highway.  We didn’t want to trespass.

I’m sure my fellow barn charmers can identify with this predicament.

Beds Are For Cat Naps

Sweet Sundae girl, how am I going to re-make the bed?

How about bathing on the floor instead?

Yes, you’re beautiful, we know it’s true,

pretty sundae

But don’t you care that I have chores to do?

dont care

Really, Sundae, you’re going to make me late…

(sigh) Enjoy your cat nap, little girl, the bed-making can wait.

Pet Remembrance Day

This may not be a national holiday; but, my friend, Pam, (Sammy’s mom from One Spoiled Cat) and I decided that we’d take today to remember some of our previous pets. And my long distance friend, Pix, is also remembering her Z-cat today in her post.

I remember always having cats in my life, and there were a few dogs. But I don’t have photos of any of them prior to Beezy, the kitty we had before Sundae.  If you missed it, I shared my memories of Beezy in this post, from back in November of 2010.

When I adopted Beezy from the animal shelter, her name was Baby, and I really can’t say how that became “Beezy”. She was in my life for 14 of her 16 years and in Motor Man’s for 11 of those.

Beezy crossed Rainbow Bridge in November of 2009.

I’m sure, for all of us who’ve loved and been loved by a pet, there’s one that we remember above the others. For us, that was our Beezy.

Aggie’s Got A Brand New Fence

Remember my equine friend, Aggie?

When we travel to and from the Outer Banks, we pass right by Aggie’s pasture. Now we keep horse treats in the truck and stop to visit her on each trip.  And during our most recent visit, we noticed that Aggie has a new fence.

She was happy to show it off.

But she was even happier about the treats.

You’re welcome, Aggie. See you next trip!
