Aggie’s Birthday

You may remember previous posts about Aggie, the white horse whose pasture we drive by on our trips to and from the Outer Banks. (If you’re a new reader and would like to catch up on Aggie: here are the links to my first post, second post and third post about her.)

A few months ago, I posted a picture of Aggie on an Outer Banks Facebook page of which I’m a member. A friend of Aggie’s family sent me a private message with some info, and included in that message was Aggie’s birth date: March 30, 1992. Yes, Aggie turned 22 years young yesterday.

Our plans for the day happened to take us in Aggie’s direction, so we paid her a birthday visit.  We took her a Happy Birthday balloon.

"For me? You shouldn't have!"

“For me? You shouldn’t have!”

And a gift…

She couldn’t wait to see what was inside:

"Hurry! Hurry" What's in that bag?"

“Hurry! Hurry” What’s in that bag?”

Our birthday gift to Aggie was a carrot and a few horse treats.

Random Five Friday

Sharing five random thoughts while still awaiting warmer weather….

1. At least the Bradford Pear trees know it’s spring.

2.) I’ve always loved Garfield. What’s not to love? A feline…with a June birthday. I thought this strip from earlier in the week was really special.

3.) I made two greeting cards this week, representing the happiest and the saddest of life’s events. The first was a “Congratulations on the birth of your son” (for our nephew and his wife). The second, a “Sympathy in the loss of your son.” (for a friend).     sigh

4.) And what’s this? No pictures of our kitties on the blog this week?  Well, we’ll just have to fix that ASAP!  Presenting Sundae, all snuggled in her little cocoon, doing her best Chessie impersonation with the glint in her eye.

5.) Motor Man and I ran an errand in Newport News yesterday and were heading home at sunset. This necessitated a stop at the park for a picture.

Happy weekend, everyone…..a rainy forecast for us.

Treasure Hunting: What IS It?

Since I haven’t written about a found treasure recently, I thought I’d share one I purchased a couple of weeks ago.

beach scene 3-26-2014 6-02-31 PM

The frame is made of wood, but the scene itself is on metal.  It’s roughly 25 inches long and about 7 inches tall.  And….it’s reversible. This is the other side:

I just don’t know exactly what it is.  I’m thinking it may have been on the top of a child’s dresser or on the end of a crib, because of the pegs located at the bottom.

The little hook on top could possibly have been added later, after it was no longer attached to the item of furniture.

When I bought this, it was specifically for the side showing the children playing by the seashore. We plan to hang it over a doorway at our beach house.

Your thoughts as to what it might have been?

Little Man On The Beach

I’d like to direct your attention to this post from less than two years ago:

Well, Hello, Little Baby

Last weekend, Tanner’s parents arranged to have his Easter pictures taken at a nearby beach. His mom took this picture and posted it on Facebook:

Adding Another To The List

One of the bonuses of blogging is the opportunity to meet (in person) other bloggers.

Motor Man and I took advantage of that opporunity over the weekend.

The blogger is Beatrice Boyd, her hubby is Grenville, and their blog is The Frog And The PenguINN.  The Boyds live in Onley, which is on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They were in our area over the weekend, so we arranged for dinner and a short visit.

(I really need to think of a more creative pose, other than just a  “line up” against the wall!)

It’s always nice to meet a fellow blogger, and we enjoyed getting to know the Boyds. If you aren’t already one of their readers, I’m sure they’d love for you to stop by for a visit.

Random Five Friday

Where does the time go? It’s already time again for Random Five Friday.

1.) Motor Man and I have plans to meet yet another blogger and her husband this weekend. Details next week!

2.) Sundae loves it when we cover her with her “throw”. She seems to be completely at ease under there. She’s always been afraid of the vacuum, but yesterday, I tried something new: I placed her throw over her before I vacuumed. And she never moved…even when I vacuumed under the bed. Brave girl!

..yes...that lump is Sundae

3.) I’m still trying to adjust to daylight savings time. Loving the sunrises, even if I do wish they happened a little earlier in the morning.

4.) Hopefully, once our weather decides that winter is over, I’ll be motivated to start my morning walks again. In years past, I’ve kept up my routine all winter, but this year, I’ve been lazy.

5.) I’m feeling the need for some retail therapy…. soon.
