Windowpane Wednesday: “Pellies”!

Last Wednesday, I shared photos of otters out at the marina in front of our house. Those photos were taken through our kitchen window.

Today, the featured subjects are pelicans.  This is much the same situation as the otters: Motor Man and I don’t recall ever seeing pelicans from our yard before their appearance last week. (*Doris, a long-time friend, loves pelicans and calls them ‘pellies’, thus the title of today’s post.)

What was fun about this sighting was that my niece, Donna, and her son, Ray, were visiting at the time.

Whenever I see pelicans, I’m amazed that, with the size of that beak, they’re able to ‘get off the ground’.

But, then again, when you consider that wing span…!

Wonder what new-to-us species we’ll see next through our windowpane?

  3. Looking out your windows surely is fun and entertaining!

  4. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to seeing them around here – I guess I’ve always thought of them as totally tropical, but they aren’t !
