Windowpane Wednesday: Courtesy At The Feeder

Motor Man and I have two bluebird feeders just outside our bedroom windows.   A few days ago, I was able to get some pics of a wren and a pair of bluebirds having breakfast.

Something ‘above’ must have caught Mr. Bluebird’s attention.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Bluebird was hanging out on the edge of a nearby flowerpot.

A cheeky little wren was also enjoying the meal worms. Mr. Bluebird was waiting patiently on the outside edge of the feeder.

He was such a gentleman: waiting for the wren and Mrs. Bluebird to eat before he did.

A friend gave us this feeder several years ago, and we (and the birds) have certainly enjoyed it. The birds say ‘thank you, Rita’.

  1. What a neat little feeder. I can see that the Bluebirds enjoy it. I’m enjoying seeing our Bluebirds again. Our songbirds were scarce this winter.

  2. That feeder is wonderful! I am sure our critters would tear that one apart before it had a chance but it works perfectly for you. Love seeing your bird pictures.

  3. I think I’ve mentioned to you that I’m seeing more bluebirds than EVER around here……but today David and I were remarking that we’re seeing more birds of ALL kinds – including hawks. Wonder if that means it will be a beautiful and long Spring?

  4. We can certainly hope so! Glad you’re seeing more birds; they are so delightful to watch.

  5. I think the hawks put a dent in our songbird population. :(

  6. I’m glad you have a few ! – I know they’re your favorites …

I saw one out in the backyard a couple of days ago, but I wasn’t quick enough with the camera ..

  7. We have so many birds at our feeder and I love it. One day we counted 7 male cardinals and 3 females in addition to the finches, juncos, and chickadees. Woodpeckers love our suet in the cake holders too. Just the other day I was telling my hubby about your bluebirds and we want to try to entice some to our yard with mealworms like you have.

  8. Meal worms are definitely the key! But, you need an actual bluebird feeder to prevent the larger birds from having access; they will clear out meal worms in a matter of minutes. And meal worms are pricey!

  9. l love your pictures of your backyard friends.Just beautiful.
