The weather in our neck of the woods has been very rainy recently. That’s good for the grass as well as the shrubs and perennials just beginning to bud.
This morning, I happened to glance out of a window and saw this cardinal. When I first looked, he was perched on the handlebars of this little trike.
I ‘willed’ him to stay put until I could get my phone in camera mode, but he didn’t oblige.
But he was a bright splash of red on a dreary, rainy day, so I made him the star of today’s blog post anyway.

I just love seeing cardinals in our back yard. One day there were seven males and four females. Of course, they didn’t all stick around long enough for me to catch a photo of them all.
Cardinals and Bluebirds ALWAYS cheer me up……This must be “THE YEAR OF THE BIRDS” because I’m seeing more birds this year than ever before. For some reason lots of Downy Woodpeckers too!
