Monday’s Memories: Moms

With this being the week before Mother’s Day, my post today is naturally about…..moms. There aren’t actual memories attached to the ‘vintage’ photos, but I’ll share the ones associated with the more recent ones.

First, an early photo of Motor Man and his Mom. His dad shipped overseas for service in World War II when Motor Man was just a few days old.  When his dad returned from the war, that little fella was two years old. We don’t know if this photo was taken before or after his dad came home.

And this one taken “some time” later. We were fortunate that his parents lived just a few miles from us and we were able to visit often. After his Pop passed away, we took his Mom out nearly every Sunday afternoon for lunch and an ‘adventure’.

Then, on to a picture of my mom and me. Of course, I have no memories of this photo, but that front porch and swing were certainly part of my growing up years. My mom and two older sisters often told me they used to swing me to sleep.

And, in later years (this was always one of my favorites). One of my aunts took this photo of Mom and me.

And when I became a mom. This was taken the day his dad and I brought Marshall home from the hospital, I think my Mom and I stared at him most of the day. Marshall was premature and had some minor health issues when he was born, so he spent ten days in the hospital before being discharged. When you’re a first time mom, you just can’t stop looking at your baby. (At least, I couldn’t.)

And my very favorite picture of Marshall (as an adult) and me. This was taken at a party at Motor Man’s parents’ house, and was completely spontaneous.
