Today, I’m sharing a piece of ‘granite ware’ that I bought several years ago.

That’s easy: a candle holder, right? Well, not really.

The center hole is through the entire item. And what is the purpose of the other, smaller holes?
Perhaps this is a top, and the center hole fits over something? The little ‘thumb-ring’ is to make it easy to remove? The smaller holes could be for ventilation? (Lots of questions and ‘maybe’s in today’s post.)
Years ago, I took this to a local antique dealer, and he didn’t have any ideas as to what it could be. And a Google Lens search brings up nothing similar.
And why did I buy this, not knowing its purpose? Well, that’s another mystery….
So, do you have any suggestions/guesses? If any of my readers know, I’ll be sure to share in an upcoming post.

Well it sure looks like a car part or gear or something – while I couldn’t find an exact match it sure does look like the parts you see when you do an image search. I love a good mystery though!

No idea! I hope you discover what it is and let us know.
you know me & searches, so I had to do one, but I had no luck ! … it’s a mystery … maybe it’s one of those ‘made-to-do’ items crafted on the spot for a purpose we’ll never know !?
I wish I had a clue but I don’t. ????????
Me neither. Such an interesting piece that begs an answer to the mystery. I’m waiting too.
