Early morning is often a busy time in our yard. We have around 30 mallards who come a few times each day to be fed, and they’re here shortly after I start my day. I think they either see or hear me moving around here in the house. There are also three or four Canada geese who are usually nearby. They all have broken wings, so I break my ‘no feeding the geese’ rule for them.
(Sometimes there are nearly 50 geese in our yard, but those are the times that I DON’T go out to feed.)
Sunday morning, just the regulars were here, so they had an early breakfast, then went for a swim.

The early morning golden hour light was so pretty on the water, the marsh grass and the waterfowl, I couldn’t help but take pics.

The regulars usually have a peaceful meal without any squabbling.

We’ve had some high tides recently (remnants of Helene), but it’s just what is called nuisance flooding, leaving a little tide trash behind. Nothing to compare to the destruction and loss so many have experienced from that storm.
I took a little video and love the sound of the ducks, and the one that flew in skidded in for a landing while I was videoing.
Just another busy morning here at the wildlife refuge…..
