Poetic Thursday: “The Fat House”

The first Thursday in October finds us, once again, joining our friends, Pam and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats. for some poetry.

This is the interesting photo they gave us for today’s inspiration:

First some info on this interesting ‘house’, this is a sculpture by Erwin Wurm, and was one of forty of his exhibits on display in 2017 in Vienna. If you’d like to read more, click here.

This is one quote in the article that I found interesting, and it was the idea for my poem, which follows:

“With his “Fat Sculptures”—‘fatty’ middle-class status symbols like cars or single-family homes—the sculptor delivers snappy and striking commentary on today’s consumer society.”

The Fat House

‘The Fat house’….could it be, certainly it couldn’t:
insinuating I’m eating things that I shouldn’t.

Brownies, cookies and potato chips,
all seem to settle right on my hips.

No, I certainly don’t eat as I should,
but why do the ‘bad things’ all taste so good?

Well, Mr. Fat House, just you be quiet,
’cause tomorrow morning, I’m starting a diet.

  1. HA! Love it. I included a link to more info in today’s post too – interesting isn’t it – “art is in the eye of the beholder” I’ve heard it said and this house proves that.

  2. It looks like it could be the “Stay-Puft Marshmallow House” .. or like the house version of incorrectly-prepared S’mores !!

  3. I resemble your poem!!! And agree – why??? I LOVE those foods. Marshall sure has the right idea too!

  4. A cute poem for this interesting picture! 💖🤗🌞
