Poetic Thursday: Safari

Thursday means poetry here on These Days. This photo was given to us last week by our hosts, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats. It is our inspiration for this week’s poetry:

Here’s my poem:

Safari

Her drive through the safari park took a turn for the worse,
when she stopped to get the camera out of her purse.
Thankfully, she didn’t have to get out of her car;
monkeys were converging from near and from far.

They certainly presented a united front;
the mirror and suitcase bearing the brunt.
She could only sit and stare in awe,
amazed at all the antics she saw.

Guys! That’s a suitcase; there’s no food in there,
just her clothes, including…. her underwear.
Now it’s out in the open for all to see;
oh, how embarrassing that must be.

She needs park staff to come to her aid;
they won’t be surprised at the mess that’s been made.
Hopefully she can get her clothes repacked,
and leave the park before another ‘attack’.

  1. You definitely captured the feel of the scene ! – those monkeys can be tricky. Don’t have anything on you that you’re not trying to lose !

  2. HAHAHA….good one. Whether this was a “staged” monkey event or a real life one doesn’t matter when the photo is this hilarious right? It was a FUN one for poetry either way.

  3. Made me think of the book/movie Jumanji! Monkeys sure know how to have fun, and you sure know how to puts words to the action. Great job!
