We’re Four For Four

You may recall that I’m a big fan of the country rock band, Sawyer Brown. I saw them four times back in the 1980’s-1990’s.  I’ve shared this cute picture taken of Marshall with the band’s front man, Mark Miller, before.  Marshall was six when this was taken.

As of Friday evening, Motor Man and I have seen the band together four times.  And each of those four times, it has rained.  Our first show was in Hopewell, Virginia.  We drove home in pouring rain.  The second show was in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.  A thunderstorm caused the arena to lose electricity while the band was singing the final song of the show. Two years ago, we saw them at an outdoor concert on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Again, a thunderstorm approached quickly, and a close lightning strike suddenly ended the concert.  That sent the band and spectators running for cover. This past Friday, the show was in Burlington, N.C. and, we made the three and a half hour drive there in the rain.  Thankfully, the concert took place indoors.

If you’re not familiar with their music, you should google and watch some of their videos.  The band is so entertaining and puts on an amazing show, full of energy and fun.

There were no assigned seats at this venue, and although we arrived about 30 minutes before the doors opened, the best we could do was fifth row seats. But it was all good, especially with the zoom lens on our camera.

It’s so much fun to watch Mark dance.

He’s known for his signature Panama hat, so I thought this was a cool shot.

Last year, Mark’s memoir, The Boys And Me,  was published, and I ordered a copy.  After the show Friday night, those who had bought (or brought) books were able to have them signed.  (Oops, I was caught mid-blink...)

Want to see what 38 years looks like?

Hopefully they’ll have another show near us soon…and maybe we won’t have to deal with rain.

  1. Time marches on but some things like our love of certain music/bands never does. Glad you got to see them again AND get your copy of their book signed ………maybe NEXT time around you will manage to not have any rain?!
