Welcome to the first Poetic Thursday of February. Each week, we join our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, for poetry.
This is the photo we were given for this week’s inspiration:

Apparently this is a print of the oil painting, “Foodscape” done in 1964, by Icelandic artist, Gudmundur Gudmundsson (aka Erro). There’s quite a bit of information available online about the painting, too much for me to share in this post, so if you’d like to read about it, click here.
When I first saw this photo, I didn’t know that the painting, focused on, among other things, the consumerism and eating habits of the Western World. Although this photo is an exaggeration with dishes obviously unreachable to the folks at the table, I’m going with my initial thought, which was to ask the blessing on the food.
Here’s my poem:
From The Heart
I’m not good at interpreting art,
my first thought just came from the heart:
“Come, Lord Jesus, our Guest to be,
and bless these gifts bestowed by Thee.”
~These Days Of Mine~

Perfect!
Very nice … And here I was trying to figure how I’d use the word “smorgasbord” in a poem ; )
