Poetic Thursday: Lunch With Bev

On Thursdays, we join our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats for Poetic Thursday.

This is the photo they gave us for our inspiration:

I really didn’t have any ideas for my poem this week, until yesterday, when my friend, Bev, and I met for lunch.  The salads we ordered weren’t quite as large as the one in the picture, but it gave me direction for my poem.

And here it is:

Lunch With Bev

It was time for lunch with a long time friend;
we weren’t really sure how long it had been.

But, then, I couldn’t believe my eyes:
“Did I really order a salad this size?”

“Yes, you did,” Bev said with a sigh.
“And, apparently, so did I.”

The salads were yummy, but in the end,
what mattered most was time with a friend.

  1. great take on this photo, and you are so right, the time was the best part

  2. Indeed……and it’s easy to get the “leftovers” to go for a salad at home! Nice that you and Bev had a “catch up” lunch.

    Hugs, Pam

  3. thats a great poem – especially considering what you were given to work with … good you were able to pull real life into it too !

  4. Perfect poem. Our mom had dinner with a friend on Monday, and it had nothing to do with the food but the time spent together. XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid & Sawyer, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Kizmet, Audrey, Raleigh, Gibbs & Tali
