I’m beginning the New Year as I do each year….by wishing my Motor Man a Happy Birthday.
This is a picture I’ve shared often. If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you’ve probably seen it and remember the story. But, for new readers, here’s a little background. Motor Man’s dad was in boot camp in Texas. Once he completed that, he managed a few days at home en route to New York to ship overseas to serve our country in World War II. Imagine his surprise when he arrived home and learned that his wife was in the hospital and that he was the dad of a day-old baby boy. (Communication was definitely not what it is these days.) Motor Man was almost two and a half years old when his dad returned from the war.

Look at this sweet note his Mom wrote in his baby book about that visit.

I’m not sure if this picture of Motor Man and his mom was taken before or after his dad returned home, but it’s a sweet one. His mom reminds me of Lucille Ball in this picture.

Fast forward a few years, and we’re planning to start today by having breakfast with Marshall, and then later, dinner with friends.

Happy Birthday, Motor Man!
