Today is Poetic Thursday here on These Days, but it’s also Patriot Day, a day to remember the events of 9/11. For those of us old enough to remember that day, we all know exactly where we were and what we were doing when we first heard the news. And each year, we think of the victims’ families and friends as they relive the heartbreak of that day.
My poem for today follows, but I also wanted to share a link to a blog post I wrote back in 2011. Motor Man and I were in New England on vacation with friends when we discovered this scenic spot and memorial to a victim on one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center. You can read that post here.
Now on to today’s poetry. Our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, gave us the following photo for our inspiration. Pam has an interesting memory of her own to share about 9/11, so I would suggest that you visit her blog today to read about her experience.

Here’s my poem:
Feet
Some boys
don’t need toys.
His day is complete:
he discovered his feet.
