Schooner Windsong

Earlier this summer, while on a visit to the beautiful little town of Cape Charles on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, we noticed a ‘sandwich board’ ad for a sailboat cruise from the nearby marina.  We did some research and booked a sail.

So yesterday, we spent a relaxing summer afternoon on the Chesapeake Bay on “Windsong”, a 47 foot schooner built in 1954.

Her owners, husband and wife, Cory and Bronwyn, purchased her in 2020. Watching the two of them work together running the boat and ‘manning’ the sails was mesmerizing.

This is looking toward the town of Cape Charles. The two-story building with the gray roof is the Northampton Inn. Motor Man and I, along with our friend, Donna, spent a wonderful weekend there a few years ago, celebrating her birthday.

Motor Man and I took the obligatory selfie while out ‘on the bay’.

But asked Bronwyn to take a photo of us once our cruise was done.

This was such a fun experience, one that we definitely recommend if you’re in the area. If you’d like to read more about Windsong, including the log from her former owners, click here.
