Another Thursday, and that means poetry with Pam and her boys, Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats.
Pam provided us with a cute picture for this week’s inspiration. (Love the gondolier’s expression.)
This is the poem I wrote:
The Gondola Ride
The gondolier continues to paddle along,
but no longer serenades them with a song.
It’s been 60 years since these two said “I do”;
he’d do it again, and she would, too.
To celebrate they booked this ride,
still happy to be by each other’s side.
The gentle motion, the gondolier’s song,
and the urge to nap became just too strong.
This photo snapped by a person nearby:
a small souvenir they didn’t have to buy.
It’s just another memory in this sweet life
they spend together as husband and wife.
In February of 2012, during the week of our 10th anniversary, Motor Man and I, along with our friends, Bev and Bill, went on a week’s vacation in California. On the day of our anniversary, we took a gondola ride around Balboa.
Our gondolier, Greg, was great…
and as you can see…
…we didn’t fall asleep.
