Poetic Thursday: The Bet

Welcome to another installment of Poetic Thursday with our friend, Pam and her ginger kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats.

Here’s this week’s photo inspiration:

And my poem:

The Bet

Yes, dear, please just rest yourself
and don’t worry about anything else.

Yes, dear, I’m almost done,
just have to get that last little crumb.

Yes, dear, and I don’t mean to talk trash,
but please be careful of that cigarette ash.

Yes, dear, there’s no need to fret;
I’m going to start the laundry next.

Yes, dear, I’ll clean the bath, bottom to top.
By the way, where do you keep the mop?

Yes, dear, I’m going to cook our meal;
I’ve got chicken to fry and potatoes to peel.

Yes, dear, I have just one regret:
I never should have taken that bet.
