2023 is coming to a close, and this is the final Poetic Thursday of the year.
Our hosts, Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, gave us this festive photo for our inspiration this week. (If you look closely, you’ll see that the image has been reversed, and there’s handwriting at the top. I flipped the photo, and it reads: “Mr. & Mrs. J. T. Cunningham”. I don’t know who the Cunninghams were, but they apparently were revelers).

Here’s my poem:
Happy New Year!
I’d like to ask if you’ll be my date?
There’s a new year we need to celebrate.
We’ve done this together for quite a while;
that silly noisemaker still makes me smile.
Covered in streamers, just like years before;
we’ll share a kiss to welcome 2024!
~These Days Of Mine~

Awwww……I loved this photo and thinking this couple had done this many times before and hopefully will have many times in the future. I saw the writing too – obviously a personal photo someone posted online but it made me smile and I thought it would do the same for others! Good job on your poem – I think these two are too cute!
Pam
your poem even has the shape of the Times Square ball !
I just love vintage photos and to imagine their innocent fun. Happy New Year to All!
