Wildlife Wednesday: “The Family”

A couple of weeks ago, I glanced out the window one afternoon to see this:

It’s rare to see a buck in our yard, but in this picture, there are two: one in the lower left and the other in the upper right.

The guys wouldn’t cooperate for me to get one good picture of the antlers, so I’m sharing two photos of the family.  Of course, those little fawns just steal the show.

But I love seeing the antlers in velvet on those little bucks.

“Who you lookin’ at?”

So far this summer, I’ve had minimal plant destruction by ‘the family’, and I’m hoping we can keep it that way.

  1. We have several families of deer as well as “singles” around here and see them every few days – they are used to seeing us too so don’t mind us watching and being in our yard with them…….they will be eating everything in sight when the weather turns cold but right now eating grass seems to be their meal of choice! I just love seeing them too – they’re so graceful and the little ones are FUN to watch as they play.

  2. Cool pics ! – and at least you don’t have to figure out how to get them out to animal control ! ; )

  3. What a wonderful family! Glad you haven’t had the damage. We really haven’t had as much this year either. We see the deer in the morning and late afternoon.
