Motor Man and I visited our friends, Darcy and Ken, on Saturday. Our last visit with them was before Christmas, so I was certainly in need of some equine therapy.
Their horses seem to associate our vehicle with treats….hmmm, I’m not sure why that is. Motor Man is explaining to them that it isn’t quite time for treats yet.

When we checked the weather forecast earlier in the week, Saturday was due to be sunny and in the low 70’s. The actual weather that morning was foggy, damp, chilly and breezy. So not a good morning for riding.
But we still plopped some St. Patrick’s Day hats on the horses, along with some neckties, and we took pics.
Their handsome Gypsy gelding, Messiah, sporting his green bowler and tie.

Motor Man took this through the windshield of our vehicle. Val looks to be whispering in Chevelle’s ear.

Darcy and Ken have devised a fun way for the horses to get some exercise on these days when riding isn’t a good option. This was so much fun to watch.
In addition to St. Patrick’s Day, we also celebrated Chevelle’s sixth birthday. I found a cake pan a few weeks ago at an antique shop and used that with a special recipe (oats and molasses) to make her birthday cake. And, of course, it had to be served on a purple (her color) plate.

She started enjoying her cake before we could get a picture.

But then she shared with her brother, Messiah, and ‘uncle’, Val.

It was a fun time, and we’re looking forward to spring weather and some riding.

It’s hard to tell who had more fun – humans or horses!
What fun! That cake was the perfect gift!
What a wonderful way to celebrate St Patty’s Day. Beautiful horses and oodles of smiles.
