Poetic Thursday: Escape

Time again for poetry here at These Days. Our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, blog over at Two Spoiled Cats.  Each week, they share a photo to inspire us to write a poem for the following Thursday.

This is the photo for today:

And here’s my poem:

Escape

An escape is sometimes easy to do,
especially in a room with this beautiful view.

Gaze out the window and daydream for hours;
breathe in the fragrance of nearby flowers.

Curl up in one of the cozy nooks,
lose yourself in a well-worn book.

What’s your favorite escape? I’d love to know.
It’s your turn to share: ready, set, go!

  1. Great job! I love this photo – I knew when I saw it that I wanted to BE there. Reading is now my “escape” but writing and painting were once my passions. David and Teddy make things “right in my world…..and everything else just seems to fall into place.

    Hugs, Pam

  2. The photo definitely says “escape!” And so does your lovely poem.

  3. What a wonderful poem. Our mom’s favorite escape is Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. But this view reminds her of Italy, which she also loves and hasn’t visited in many years. 4. I don’t see any reading happening if I curl up in there ; )
