May I Quote You?

One of Mama Kat’s Writing Prompts this week suggested that we list six of our favorite quotes. For the past few years, I’ve been on the lookout for quotes to use on the cards I make. But many of my favorite quotes are ones I discovered many years ago. Here are my six (plus a bonus), in no particular order:

1.) “Bloom where you’re planted.” I don’t recall where I first heard or saw this quote, but it’s a favorite, and seems especially appropriate for this time of year.

2.) “Life with you is like a road trip; we may not always know where we’re going, but it’s a sweet ride.” This is a quote I saw within the past couple of years. It seems to perfectly describe my life with Motor Man.

3.) “Life is mostly froth and bubble. Two things stand as stone: kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.” (Adam Lindsay Gordon)  I remember seeing this quote in the early 1970’s. A friend was experiencing some trying times; as it turned out, my “listening ear” resulted in blessings for us both.

4.) “The sun setting is no less beautiful than the sun rising.” This was on a poster in the nursing home where my Mom was a resident in the 1990’s.

5.) “If you’re too busy to listen to your children, you’re too busy.”   I saw this quote in a Christian magazine when Marshall was a toddler, and taped it to the inside of a kitchen cabinet door. Is there a parent who, at times, isn’t guilty as charged?

6.) “Ah, that’s the reason a bird can sing; on his darkest day, he believes in spring.”  (Douglas Malloch) Another of my more recently discovered quotes.

And because I couldn’t choose just six, here’s your bonus quote:

7.) “Sometimes God calms the storm; sometimes He lets the storm rage and calms His child.”  I’ve used this several times on cards I’ve made for friends experiencing difficult times.

Credit was given to the authors of these quotes, when I could find that information. Many of these seem to be just “sayings”, and the authors are unknown.

If you’d like, feel free to share your favorite quotes. (I’ll add them to my collection!)
