Monday Morning Mews: Special Occasion!

Hi, there, readers! This is Gypsy, wishing you all a Happy New Year.  AND, we are celebrating another special occasion today:

Motor Man’s birthday!

So, not only am I here today, but so is my sisfur, Sundae!

Here is my furry favorite picture of Motor Man and me, taken when I was just a tiny little kitten.

Now, I’ve grown up and become his adviser.  We spend lots of time researching ways to make more horsepower. Here we’re discussing our latest findings on the internet.

And now, heeeere’s Sundae!

Hi, efurryone!  This is Sundae, wishing Motor Man a wonderful birthday!  He’s such a smart man: when I first adopted my pawrents and came to live with them, I cried for several days. Motor Mommy was almost at the end of her rope, but Motor Man just said: “We don’t know how long she’s been living in that little cage. Now she has a whole house to explore and get accustomed to.  She’ll be fine.”  And he was right!  Motor Mommy took this picture of us Christmas Day.  Motor Man was asking me what had my attention out the window.

Along with Motor Mommy and Marshall, we’re all wishing a FURRY Happy Birthday to our Motor Man!  We love you!

Sundae, The Alarm Cat

Now that sunrise is before 6 a.m., I’m usually awake by then, and out of bed by 6:15. Sundae has grown accustomed to this routine.

So, on the rare occasion that I sleep “in” (past 6:00 a.m.), she feels it’s her feline duty to awaken me. She has a lot to say at that time of the morning.

If talking doesn’t rouse me out of bed, she decides to get up on my chest.

Since  my cell phone charger is on my bedside table, the other morning, I decided to snap a few pictures of her, “up close and personal”.

Sweet, soft kitty paws:

I suppose being awakened by the sound of kitty meows is much better than the harsh ringing of an alarm clock.

Does anyone know where the time setting is on a kitty?

Sundae Says: “Ah….”

Sundae: Well, folks, it’s been awhile since I posted, so today, I’m sharing some recent photos of “yours truly”. Motor Mommy caught me in a playful mood (and I played along with her and that camera thing she totes around all the time).

Every morning, when my pawrents make the bed, Motor Mommy puts my blue “blankie” at the foot, so I can nap on it during the day.

Why, yes, I do know I’m adorable.

(A Wild) Random Five Friday

Well, folks, we’ve landed on Friday again. And that means it’s time for a little randomness:

1.) My view last Friday morning at sunrise.  Do you see my “guest”?  There were several along the marsh, but I was only able to get a picture of one.

2.) Continuing with the wildlife theme, Sundae had some guests of her own the other day. I heard her “chattering” at something outside,  and when I looked, I saw this.

3.) More wildlife:  can you spot the bird’s nest, complete with eggs? You may need to click to enlarge. Yes, this is the wreath on our front door. Now, before we open the door, we have to be sure Mama Bird isn’t on the nest. That resulted in a bird-in-the-house one time several years ago. Marshall to the rescue; he happened to be visiting, caught the bird and escorted it back outside.

4.) Still more wildlife: this picture was taken Wednesday evening just a few miles from our house. I think these two were on a date:

5.) Okay, I think I’ve run out of wild…. oh, wait…there IS this…

Happy weekend!

UPDATE:  I just discovered that Nancy is on spring break, so there is no Random Five Friday this week at A Rural Journal.  But…there is one here at These Days!

Sundae’s Gift

When we adopted Sundae almost three years ago, all I really wanted was a lap kitty. Sundae “reeled me in” at the Humane Society by immediately curling up in my lap.  Once we got her home, it was obvious that had just been a ploy on her part to have me adopt her.

But in the past couple of months, she has become a lap kitty in the evenings, when I finally make it to the recliner. So, for Christmas, Sundae gifted me with this kitty lap-nap throw.

Sundae really likes to be under the throw when she’s in my lap. This blob is actually “undercover” Sundae.

Here’s a rare occasion where Sundae is actually on top of the throw. Now, folks, this is a lap full o’ kitty.

But, wait….what’s this?

Why do I get the feeling that Sundae didn’t actually get that blanket for me?

It seems this may have been just another of Sundae’s ploys.

Random Five Friday

Friday has rolled around again, bringing with it five random thoughts:

1.) Tomorrow is my sister, June’s, birthday. She’s always been there to listen and encourage me;  she “had my back” before the phrase was ever invented. Happy Birthday, June.

2.) Our Christmas card envelopes are addressed and cards are almost finished.

3.) Tonight in our little town of Smithfield is an evening Christmas Craft and Farmers’ Market. Motor Man and I are planning to attend. Isn’t this a pretty flyer created for the event?

4.) Speaking of Christmas, Sundae continues to keep watch under the tree.  Oh, look: prezzies!

5,) Still speaking of Christmas, we couldn’t believe this when we spotted it last night. You know the saying: you may be a redneck if….you have Christmas wreaths on the tires of your pick-up truck.

Since four of my five thoughts today relate to Christmas, I suppose they aren’t so random. But, after all, tis the season!

Are your thoughts all about Christmas this week?

Sundae Says: I’m A Lap Kitty After All

Happy Monday, effuryone! Sundae here, taking over the blog today.  You see, since Motor Mommy gave all of you an update last week about what that little imp sweet little shop kitten, Gypsy, has been up to lately, I thought I’d let all of you know what’s new with me.

You may recall that, when Motor Mommy adopted me from the humane society a couple of years ago, her only requirement was that the kitty she chose that chose her be a lap cat. I overheard her say that when she first arrived, so when the gal at the society handed me over to her (to see how we’d get along), I immediately curled up in her lap. Turns out, I was more or less campaigning for a furever home, and I really haven’t been much of a lap kitty at all.

But, I’ve decided to turn over a new leaf and spend some time on Motor Mommy’s lap, especially in the evenings when she’s in her chair with a throw over her legs.

And, don’t tell her I told, but she’s actually in her jammies in these pictures. Shhhh…! It’ll be our little secret, okay?

And you know what? I think I could get used to this lap kitty business.
