It may be difficult to believe, but yesterday, Motor Man and I made a trip to the Outer Banks. That part isn’t hard to imagine, but… it had been NINE weeks since our last visit.
Last year, at the beginning of the pandemic, the Outer Banks was closed to visitors for several weeks. During that time, Motor Man and I started taking day trips to other locations. And that habit has continued.
We had a beautiful day for our drive yesterday. This time of year, there are very few people on the beach. You never know what the driving conditions will be; sometimes the sand is so deep and soft that you’re in constant fear of getting the vehicle stuck. But yesterday, it was like driving on the interstate, but with a prettier view.
We saw LOTS of sea gulls enjoying the surf.
And we saw 28 wild horses. These were in the yard of the beach house of friends and an engine customer of ours.
I zoomed in on this beautiful face, then cropped the picture to bring it in even closer.
We’ve seen this flaxen-maned beauty many times.
She was so interested in her lunch that she wouldn’t raise her head for me to get a good picture. But I love that her tail is caught on the grasses behind her.
We may not go to see ‘my horses’ as often as we used to, but it’s always a fun trip.
