In 2020, I began trying to learn to ride horses at my friend, Darcy’s, place. Yes, I’m a late bloomer….why do you ask?
My equestrian skills are limited to sitting on one of her three horses and walking around the pasture, occasionally breaking into a brief trot. Oh, she’s taught me much more, but at this age, a gentle walk seems to suit me just fine.
One of the fun parts of visiting Darcy is that we dress up for holidays and take pics with the horses. So today, to begin Christmas week, I thought I’d share some of our Christmas photos from the past five years.
For our first Christmas celebrating with Darcy (and her hubby, Ken), I made us matching ‘horse head’ wreaths from live greenery. And Val seemed to approve. 
Her horses are so good about getting dressed up, too.
The following year, I found this Santa suit at a ridiculously low price, and couldn’t resist wearing it to ride.
Darcy and Ken created a cute Christmas scene and loaned Motor Man a Santa suit for pics. Yes, that’s really him under all that hair and beard.

I’ve managed to collect quite a few Christmas hats….so it’s fun to take them all and just change out for different photo ops. This was in 2022.
And in 2023, the four of us wore Christmas ‘pajamas’. What a fun time. Darcy and Ken built and painted the snowman and Christmas tree backdrop. Is my Motor Man a good sport or what? And Messiah was sweet to sit with us for a picture. He loves to sit on his bean bag.

This year, we just dressed up with the hats. It was so much fun to be surrounded by these three beautiful, gentle, smart, ‘chill’ creatures.
And look at this ‘bulletproof’ horse, Val. Beach ball type ornaments all over him, and he wasn’t bothered in the least.
And I couldn’t leave out their other Gypsy horse, Chevelle, who gave me lots of lovies when we got there. (I think she was campaigning for extra treats later.)
Visiting Darcy’s is always fun for me, and I like to think she, Ken and Motor Man enjoy it, too.
