Innocent Until Proven Guilty

When rain is in the forecast, do you place your plants out on your porch steps so they’ll enjoy the rain water?

I had done that last week during a rainy spell.  After the rain, I hung the pansy baskets back up on the porch.

A short time later, I noticed a pain in the middle of my back.   The hanging basket episode crossed my mind,  because one of the baskets had been a challenge to return to its hook.

And instead of improving over the weekend, the pain seemed to get worse.  And it moved up toward my shoulder blades.

I don’t consider myself a hypochondriac, but at 4:00 a.m. when you wake up with that pain, you can’t help but think about all the times you’ve read about “silent heart attacks”.  You know the ones where the pain is in the back or the arm or the neck – anywhere but the chest….? And how you shouldn’t put off going to seek medical attention because you’re worried about being embarrassed that it’s nothing serious?

Well, finally, on Monday, Motor Man had heard enough about the “what ifs”, and took me to “seek medical attention” at our doctor’s office.  I mentioned the hanging basket episode to the doc right at the beginning.  During the visit, he  said that I had pulled a muscle. He was confident in this diagnosis because he could SEE a difference in the right side of my back as opposed to the left.  Motor Man could even see it. I had no idea something like that would be outwardly visible.

So that proves it.  Guilty as charged:

  2. It’s a shame something so beautiful could cause you so much discomfort mentally and physically!

  3. That is a beautiful hanging basket though. Hope you feel better soon!

  4. Oh, I am so sorry. At least you have an answer and it will get better….right? I have had those silent conversations with myself many a time – all the what ifs??? And the internet doesn’t really help either – gives you just enough info to scare yourself more!!! Your plants are gorgeous though!

  5. So sorry you had trouble. Gardening can be dangerous. But you have beautiful plants and you take such good care of them. Hope you are feeling better.

  6. .. At least it was just a muscle thing…. but those pansies show the care they’re given !!!

  9. You cant’ hang baskets like you use-ta! That’s all it takes sometimes is making the wrong move. These things happen as we get older. I’ve got to be careful just getting out of bed!
