Ida Says “Meow” (Thank You)

Last month, I wrote a little poem entitled “The Hope of a Shelter Kitty” for one of Mama Kat’s Writing Workshops.  If you missed it, and you’d like to read it, click here.

I pledged to donate $1 per comment left on that post by my readers. The recipient of my donation was the humane society where we had recently adopted our kitty, Sundae.

That post resulted in 28 comments, but I wrote a check for $35 to the society, which is the fee to adopt a pet.

This week I received a thank-you letter from the humane society, letting me know that my our donation paid for one of Sundae’s former shelter-mates,  a kitty named Ida, to recently be adopted to a wonderful home.

So Ida, Sundae, and I say “meow, meow,  thank you”.

I was toying with the idea of making another pledge to benefit our local animal shelter. (Sundae was adopted from one about an hour away.)  My readership has increased in the past few weeks, so if I were, perhaps offering to pledge $1 for each comment to today’s post, I could be in serious trouble.  Couldn’t I?  Couldn’t I? So it probably wouldn’t be in my best interest to make that offer.

But it WOULD be in the best interest of the animal shelter.

Sundae says: “Meow?” (please).

Can YOU refuse that face?

  1. Even though it might make a dent in your “pocketbook”, I hope you have lots of responses to today’s blog. Here’s the first dollar of your pledge!

  2. What a wonderful thing to do! Here’s your second.

  3. Ohhhh….that face is just too much! Thank you for your caring, loving and giving heart!

  4. I’ll be the fourth (unless someone sneaks in before I hit the button) .. great, great pics!! I think she’s enjoying her new home very much !

  5. Oh, if you get in too much trouble, I’m willing to help out! Happy to send grocery money your way to help the animals! Love when I hear of good homes taking in the strays that need love!

  6. Diane:
Ohhhhhhhh! So, it’s Ida not IDA (aka Industrial Development Authority!!) I thought our fearless vice-chairman (your “Motor Man”) had gone feline on us!! Loved the story on Sundae – who could resist that face??? Not me!

Have a wonderful weekend, thank you for what you are doing for the animals, and good luck at the races!!

    You are asking for trouble!!!!!
What you are doing is very, very sweet. Every kitty deserves a loving home. Sundae is lucky to be with you.

  8. WHO could resist that face??? 😉

  9. OK here ya go…now pay up! Dirty and Hattie said that maybe Sundae should have a friend too!

  10. What a wonderful thing you’re doing for the shelter. Bob and I say “thank you!”.

  11. Sundae certainly looks content! Thank you for caring for all God’s creatures.

  12. Cannot… resist…that…face! I am powerless to the power of SuperKitty!

We, too, have a “Shelter Special.” We call him the $1000 “free” dog. He’s worth every minute and every $ ever invested though … Cheers! MJ

  13. No, I can’t resist that face or helping to make a donation to help the kitties since I’m a little cat obsessed myself! One of our cats, Cooper, is a shelter rescue and he’s pretty awesome.

  14. Sundae is so pretty; my calico has just had kittens but they’re hidden from me.

  15. Another $1 for you. Thanks for all you do.

  16. Aw, what a great idea. Your poem is sweet and true. You have such a good heart. Ida sending you a thank you is just the best. Good going! 🙂

  17. Sure looks like you could go broke, now say meow!!!!!

  18. And here’s my dollar 🙂

  19. My kitty Dakota also came from the local animal shelter. She’s a dear!

  20. No way I can resist that sweet face!!

  21. I think that is a very nice idea you have.
If more people donated to shelters they wouldnt have to put down so many animals…My wish is to have all shelters be no kill..in a perfect world though i guess,’
    have a great Sunday,

    Linda

  22. Well, Dianna, as I have told you I save and have a ‘blogfest’, so I may have missed the boat on your donation ;~) . I had to go all the way back to March for my blogfest today!
