It’s confession time here on These Days: Motor Man and I went on a trip last week. Across the country. To California.
He needed to go there on a little business. Our friends, Bev and Bill had never been. They had a time share, we had air miles: it all came together.
The area we were in was Newport Beach, which is on the coast, about 50 miles south of Los Angeles. After we arrived, our first stop was nearby Balboa, where we rode the historic three-car ferry the short distance (less than 1000 feet) to Balboa Island.
Those homes you see in the background belong to famous folks: movie stars, clothing designers, corporate executives.
If you’re old enough to remember the old tv show, Gilligan’s Island, this area of Balboa may look a little familiar. Some of the scenes were filmed here.
We took advantage of a tour-boat cruise in that very busy harbor. (Thankfully, our tour didn’t suffer the same fate as Gilligan’s.)
And even though it isn’t Sunset Sunday here on These Days, I have to share a couple of photos of that golden hour.
Many of this week’s posts will be about our trip. I’ll try not to bore you.
