Random Five Fall Friday

Last Friday of September, first Friday of fall: I think this calls for five random thoughts:

1.) It’s been a couple of days since I’ve seen a hummingbird; perhaps they’re winging southward. I sure will miss those little flutterers until they return next spring.

2.) Although the calendar says fall, the warm temps still say summer. And this petunia agrees.

3.) Things that make you go hmmmmm. How did that squirrel get that huge black walnut in this hanging basket. Wouldn’t it be fun to have that on video?

4.) It’s been a while since I’ve shared any photos of “my” wild horses at the Outer Banks. So here’s one from a recent trip. This is Valor, a little filly born earlier in the summer.  The Corolla Wild Horse Fund, the organization who oversees the horses, commented on one of their Facebook posts that she just can’t decide what color she wants to be.

5.) Tomorrow is the Autumn Vintage Market on Main Street in our little town.  My friend, Donna, and I are planning to take it all in…followed by lunch. The forecast: “times of sun and clouds, high 79”.  Ah….

Happy Fall, y’all!

  1. Gosh that is a big walnut – wonder if the squirrel now has a hernia! Fall is falling but a lot of flowers are hanging in there still….my impatiens have never looked so gorgeous. Valor is a pretty filly but it does seem like she’s not sure “what to wear” !

  2. I haven’t seen ‘my’ hummers for a few days either. Squirrels are amazing little thieves. I haven’t gotten pears in years because the squirrels descend on my tree. I see them running across the yard pulling/carrying the fruit with them. AWW! Yes! Fall – so looking forward to the cooler temps promised today. Interesting coloring on that filly. Enjoy the Vintage market. Maybe it’s time for some warm, fall drinks – hot chocolate can’t be too far away!

  3. Definitely ready for fall…. & even though I still see a little summer here, I can tell fall is working its way into TheseDays!

I love fall. It’s on it’s way but I wish it would hurry. As always your R5F is awesome. You and Donna have a wonderful time tomorrow. ❤

  5. I’m sooooo ready for fall. Love your randoms. Must have been a “muscle man” or a “big mouth” squirrel to wrestle that nut. Did you get any great finds at the vintage market? Sounds like so much fun!
