Poetic Thursday: Christmas Eve Shopper

It’s time, once again, for Poetic Thursday over at Two Spoiled Cats .  Here is the photo Pam provided as inspiration for this week’s poem:

This made me think of my late brother-in-law, Ed. In addition to the picture, my poem was also inspired by him and his last minute (by choice) Christmas shopping:

Christmas Eve Shopper

Early in December, he can’t understand
all the rushing around with gift lists in hand.

He laughs and says: “I can do it all
with one Christmas Eve trip to the mall”.

Man on a mission, he joins the crowd.
His shopping’s soon done, and he’s feeling proud.

Then he heads back home, where down he’ll flop,
giving truth to the saying: “shop til you drop”.

Is your Christmas shopping complete? Or are you a Christmas Eve shopper?

  1. Excellent entry in our Thursday Poetic fun! I can’t imagine waiting until the last minute but I know lots of people like the “excitement” of last minute shopping. I’m done. Everything is wrapped and under the tree and I can sit back and THINK about all those last minute shoppers instead of being one! Thanks for joining in our poetic fun on Thursdays!

  2. Cute! You really do have a knack for this “challenge.” No Christmas Eve shopping for me. I like my ducks in a row, so my shopping is mostly done before Thanksgiving.

  3. Nice & quick little rhyme .. perfect for the feel of the pic and the season !

Wonderful poem and a nice tribute to your brother-in-law. You rocked this AGAIN my talented friend.

  5. A sweet tribute to your brother-in-law. He was obviously successful at the last minute shopping – don’t think I could do that! Your poem is GREAT!!!
