No after-Christmas doldrums around here: it’s time for Poetic Thursday with Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats.
Those of you who know me well will probably have the same reaction when you see this week’s photo inspiration as Marshall did. (He didn’t really say anything, just gave a gesture as if to say: “Well, you’re a shoe-in for this one”. )
Yes, Motor Man and I have been on many sleigh rides, and it’s always a thrill (at least for me). Here’s my poem:
Sleigh Ride
A little girl’s dream from so long ago
of a horse drawn sleigh, gliding through the snow.
But down deep in her heart, she knew
there was little chance of her wish coming true.
She knew no one who owned a sleigh,
and deep snowfalls rarely came their way.
The little girl grew up, put her dream aside,
seldom thinking about a sleigh ride.
Then, years later, that dream came true,
with a winter wonderland sleigh ride for two.
It was cold as Christmas, with snow in the air;
the horses, the sleigh bells: all the magic was there.
Hubby knew in a moment that she was hooked;
that, in years to come, more rides would be booked.
It was everything she hoped it would be.
No longer a dream, now a fun memory.
Here’s a little slideshow of photos from some of OUR sleigh rides. Will we plan a ride this winter?
Stay tuned to find out!
~These Days Of Mine~
Wonderful poem – I knew this photo was right up your alley for poetry (I think Angel Sammy did too) and I am POSITIVE there are more sleigh rides in your future. JR does his best to fulfill that little girls’ wishes…….
Hugs, Pam
There is no more perfect prompt for you unless there were to be one of Bacon’s Castle. So glad that little girl’s dream came true.
Looks like a Winter Fantasyland!
Poem is perfection, painting with words the most beautiful picture.
The slide show is wonderful display of the beauty that is a horse drawn sleigh ride in the snow. Just magical!!
Marshall was right that picture was made for you to write a poem about. Just perfect, my friend.
Bravo! This is a poem from a true lover of sleigh-rides ! I knew it’d be a good one !
Oh my horses…what a beautiful poem of a little girl’s dream come true.
I cannot in my wildest dreams even imagine the pure joy of riding in a sleigh…so magically with the majestic Gentle Giants.
Thank you for stopping by today and for your comment and memories
Maybe we’ll see you at Busch Gardens. LOL Now I want to go again too
Hugs Cecilia
That poetic challenge DEFINITELY had your name on it! Loved it and can’t wait to see photos of the next magical sleigh ride.
