Poetic Thursday: Playing

Thursday has come around again, and as usual, I’m joining Pam and her boys for Poetic Thursday over at Two Spoiled Cats.

Here’s this week’s photo inspiration:

And this is my poem:

PLAYING

I’m sharing something that I’ve been told,
and it’s quite an appropriate saying:

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old:
we grow old because we stop playing.”

What a fun picture, and credit for the last two lines of my poem goes to George Bernard Shaw. I first learned of this phrase when I saw it on a rubber stamp a few years ago. I’ve since used it on some of my greeting cards  and also previously here in a blog post.

It’s a good one to keep in mind.

  1. It’s a perfect saying ANY time but maybe now more than ever. Just because our routines have had to change – and will be changed for who knows how long – doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy life, have some laughs, do fun things, and behave like panda bears as much as we can! 🙂 I have always loved that quote from Shaw.

  4. Oh yes! I’ve been doing my fair share of playing with our granddaughter during this quarantine. 🙂
