How quickly time passes. It’s Thursday again, and time for poetry with Pam, Angel Sammy and Teddy at Two Spoiled Cats.
This is our photo for inspiration this week:
And here’s my poem:
Mama Said
“I could ride to town on your bottom lip. Are you tuning up to cry?”
Things my Mama said, long ago, in days gone by.
This poor little fella: he just looks so sad.
Mom would say: “Well, he has a lifetime to get glad”.
A mom is onto her little ones’ ploys
when she says no to candy and toys.
One day they’ll know that she did what she should,
that it was done with love and for their own good.
~These Days Of Mine~
Cute poem and yes – those “No’s” we got years ago were for a reason that we might not have been able to understand at the time but learned later were definitely for our own good!
Pam
So well done, especially incorporating the priceless expressions our mothers used.
We would give anything to hear uttered again.
So moved by you taking on this challenge and excelling!
Good weekend 💛
“Well, he has a lifetime to get glad” is probably the best pearl of wisdom here – bravo once again !
“I could ride to town on your bottom lip” – LOVE that! GREAT poem. If only we could get by with that face today! You don’t disappoint. Your poems are a Thursday favorite of mine.
Great poem!!
