Windowpane Wednesday: Blues

I think it’s safe to say that bluebirds are my favorite bird. No matter how many times I see them outside our window, they always make me smile.

So today, I’m sharing a few recent photos I’ve caught of them through the windowpane.

Last winter, Motor Man and I purchased a heated bird bath. It hasn’t been extremely popular with our little feathered friends. The squirrels think that it was bought for them, much like the bird seed that we put in the feeders. But one day, I caught a bluebird enjoying a sip. I love how the turquoise of the bird bath reflected on his breast.

It’s been a challenge finding meal worm feeders that have openings small enough for the bluebirds (and wrens), but too small for the starlings. I never see starlings at the other feeders, just the one with the meal worms. I recently saw this bird cage on Ebay and took a chance. We thought the openings were too small for the bluebirds, so Motor Man made a 1 1/2-inch circle. This isn’t the best quality photo, but a juvenile blue bird made his way into the cage.

I just love the reds and blues of these birds.

Yes, Mr. Bluebird, you are indeed handsome.
