Windowpane Wednesday: Supper

A couple of days ago, I glanced out of our bedroom window and saw this egret.

The setting sun had him in the spotlight. I kept watching, because I thought he was going to catch dinner.  He dipped his beak in the water, but I think he came up short that time. He did make a pretty ripple in the water.

I’m guessing that it wasn’t long before he found his evening meal.

Growing up in the country, our meals were breakfast, dinner and supper.  Later, we became somewhat sophisticated and began referring to them as breakfast, lunch and dinner. But sometimes, “supper” happens.

  1. Great pictures!! Beautiful bird.
Especially liked your “sometimes supper happens”
Good day to you and yours!

  2. Same here – dinner was always called supper when I was growing up. Regardless of what meal that egret was searching for, I hope he found it. 😉

  3. Supper or dinner … either will do ! – but I remember supper from when I was younger …

  4. Beautiful egret……! We always had breakfast, lunch and dinner but I can remember when I was little and we would visit Grandma, she called “dinner” supper.
