Poetic Thursday: Ice, Ice

Once again, we’re joining Pam and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats,  for some poetry…just because it’s Thursday.

Below is the photo they provided us with for our inspiration this week, and following my poem, I have some information about where this was taken (thank you, Google Lens):

Here’s my poem:

Ice, Ice

There IS a hotel made of ice, it’s true.
And apparently, it’s the “in” thing to do.

So, if you’re inclined, go right ahead:
we’ll be here in our WARM, cozy bed.

This is the ice hotel in Sweden. I’ve found information about it on several sites.  Quick recap: it began in the winter of 1989, when artists created a hotel out of ice. This has become an annual event, and of course, the hotel melts and ‘returns to nature’ in the spring.

But I also found information that now there is a permanent ice hotel, and I must admit that the ‘facts you need to know before you go’ were a bit mind boggling. If you’d like to read about it, click here.

  1. Oh yes! I’ve seen these on a show about exotic places to stay in the world. NO WAY!!!! I LOVE a warm, cozy bed. Cannot imagine staying in these. Your poem says it too!

  2. Nope. No ice hotel for me. Now, I will admit I sleep better when my bedroom is cool, but not that cold! 😉

  3. Back story so interesting!
I am with you in preferring warm cozy bed.
BUT wouldn’t mind seeing an ice hotel

  4. No thanks on the ice hotels – there are a lot of them in Iceland, Finland, Alaska, etc. I prefer cozy not icy!! Good job with the poem – I thought it would be a fun one.

  5. the bed looks like something in saran wrap that’s been in the freezer for too long !

  6. I’m with you. No, thank you to an ice bed.
