One Day: Two Celebrations

Friday, in my world, we were busy celebrating birthdays. (Warning: lots of pictures in today’s post.)

It was officially Marshall’s birthday, so he, Motor Man and I started the day with a yummy breakfast at our favorite local diner.  Celebrating the birth of your child brings back so many memories of that time in your life.  Although I’m sure I’ve shared them with him before, I couldn’t help but reminisce a little during our breakfast visit. Love you, “Marsh”.

Then my guys were off to work.

And I headed home to change clothes. A few of us in my Surry Girls group were meeting for lunch to celebrate my birthday. Due to everyone’s busy summer schedule, we’d had to postpone a couple of times, but it was worth the wait.

The girls planned a cowgirl themed party (how appropriate).

Motor Man asked me to stop by our shop on my way to lunch, so he could see my outfit. The shirt was on loan from my friend, Darcy, the hat was a birthday gift from Motor Man last year, the boots were from him for this year’s birthday, and I found the spurs at an antique shop. (The spurs were definitely a hit at the party.)

My Surry girls  really outdid themselves with planning, decorating and ‘gifting’.  The table was decorated with bandannas,  gold horse confetti, horse statues, an old horseshoe and a wooden stirrup.

We dressed in our best Western gear for the party and took a picture outside the restaurant. Notice my little cowgirl hat ‘headband’, a gift from my Surry girl friend, Donna.

After lunch, three of us went to a nearby winery to see their resident goats.  And, of course, take more pictures. First: a stop at the ‘saloon’ for sarsaparillas slushies:

This carriage located inside the winery was a perfect (surprise) prop for our western theme.  Sadly, we never found the horse. (The purse was a previous Christmas gift from friends, Janet and George, and was the perfect accessory for the day.)

Then, it was outside to feed and take pics of the goats. They have several babies (so cute) and more on the way:

Another photo op; the chair was too much for us to resist:

By then, the Virginia heat and humidity were causing us cowgirls to ‘wilt’ slightly. We were all thankful that instead of hitching up our horses, we just got in our air conditioned cars and headed for our respective homesteads.

Thanks to my guys and my Surry girls, it was a day full of fun, great pics and wonderful memories made.
