Recently, on one of those hot, hazy, humid southeast Virginia days we’ve had, I noticed something fluttering in the flowerbed outside our kitchen window.

I believe this is a thrasher, although I always get those confused with wood thrush.

Whichever species it is, it was definitely enjoying a dust bath on this hot day. (Yes, that bed could use some mulch.)

And after his dust bath, he had a little drink at the nearby bird bath.

Whatever helps our feathered friends make it through a hot summer day.

Looks like your yard spa was enjoyed by that bird before he went on his merry way!

Aren’t our feathered friends amazing to watch? Not that a dust bath would cool me down………….
I have never seen a bird do that before, that I remember. Your yard is a perfect place for animals.
I saw a bird doing this in a driveway the other day …. must be the thing … !
