Another Thursday closer to Christmas, and for our poetry today, Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, gave us a very Christmasy photo for inspiration.

There’s an interesting story behind this photo, and I encourage you to click on this link to read it: https://www.dvidshub.net/news/14211/alaska-guard-conducts-operation-santa-claus
Here’s my poem:
A Visit From The Clauses
Santa’s getting ready for his big night,
but he and Mrs. Claus couldn’t miss this flight.
They’re off to see folks in far, remote places.
Just imagine the smiles on all those faces.
It’s jet fuel on this trip, not reindeer power;
not quite as quaint, but more miles to the hour.
The elves are still busy there at the shop,
Santa may be gone, but the work doesn’t stop.
Since Rudolph’s not needed to guide the sleigh,
he’s in charge of the elves while Santa’s away.
Santa’s always a welcome sight:
we all look for him on Christmas Eve night.

YES – another Teaser student (!) posted a link to the story also. The military has facilitated these special trips for years and I’ve seen lots of photos before – makes your heart happy knowing that no child is left out of the magic of Santa and Christmas.
