Poetic Thursday: Real Or Fake

Not only is today Thanksgiving, but it’s also Poetic Thursday.  We’re joining our dear friend, Pam, (we’re so thankful for her friendship!) and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, over at Two Spoiled Cats, for a little poetry.

This is the photo they gave us for our inspiration.

And here is my poem:

Real or Fake

Yes, I did a double-take:
disappointed to learn that it is fake.

Just who is the responsible one
that has fooled us and spoiled our fun?

No more wondering how we’d get to the top,
when you learn that this is just photo-shopped!

It took me quite a bit of Google research to learn that this isn’t a real place (although it is beautiful!).  The actual location is “James Bond Island” in Khao Phing Kan in Thailand.  And a portion of Lichtenstein Castle in Germany has been super-imposed on top.

If you’d like to read more about it, click here.

I must remember to be skeptical of everything I see on the internet these days. Between AI and photo editing, it’s so easy to be duped.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

  1. Yes indeed – we knew it was fake when we saw and used it, it but still thought it would be fun to write a poem about. We’ve seen that castle in Germany and recognized it from a trip and while it was up in the hills, it was NOT up in the sky! Thanks for joining in the fun and Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Obvious fake, but we used to say that “a picture was worth a thousand words”. This pic may be worth 1000 words, but only in discussion about ‘how they faked the pic’. Neat concept and your poem says it well.

  3. It was bad enough to discern between real and fake with photoshopping and now AI makes it even more difficult. What a world we live in! Anyway, I still thought your poem was great.
