Closing out Thursdays in March today with a little poetry. Our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, are hosting Poetic Thursday today as they do each week.
They provided us with this photo for our inspiration:

So…. I had no ideas for a poem strictly about this picture. I certainly never ‘styled’ Marshall’s hair like this when he was a little toddler in the tub, but it DID bring back a cute memory.
This is my poem, loosely based on that photo and that memory:
Bathtime
When bathtime came, our little guy would pout,
but once in the tub, he didn’t want to get out.
So we enacted one little rule:
he had to get out when the water got cool.
Fingers get pruny in that little while;
it was a strange sensation to a tiny child.
Out of the tub with a towel to dry,
he would always say to me with a sigh:
“Mommy, I got ‘dibbies’ on my fingers.”
How he came up with the word ‘dibbies’ to describe pruny fingers, I don’t know. But it was cute, and I always chuckled when he said it. And it still makes me smile.
~These Days Of Mine~

Perfect poem for the photo and a sweet memory at the same time for you when Marshall was a wee one. I love this little guy’s expression…….
Pam
I hopped over from the Two Spoiled Cats blog to read your poem. What sweet memories in your poem. By his picture, I’d say your son has grown into a good young man.

Thank you for such a sweet comment. We’re very proud of the man he has become!!
Gonna be honest – before I scrolled down, it looked like the ear tips of an extremely unhappy cat ! – I have no idea where the term ‘dibbies’ came from , but it worked !
Made me smile too. CUTE!!! Picture and poem.
Your poem from this memory is just way too cute. I love the word “dibbies.”
