Poetic Thursday: Rescued

Welcome to the first Poetic Thursday of November. We’re joining our friend, Pam, and her kitties, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats, for some poetry, as we do almost every Thursday.

Here’s today’s photo inspiration:

And my poem:

Rescued*

They fight like brothers, and play like friends;
around here, the action never ends.

With wagging tails and slobbery kisses,
that’s how they greet their ‘Mister’ and ‘Missus’.

Days at the shelter, they were so afraid,
but now, they know they’ve got it made.

‘Mister’ and ‘Missus’ had an empty nest,
and they knew that doggies would fill it the best.

Adoption day was a dream come true;
but we have to wonder: just who rescued who?

*Photo and poem look familiar?  That’s because this is an ‘encore presentation’.  This picture was our inspiration for a poem in February, 2024, and apparently is worthy of a repeat!

  1. I should have mentioned it was a repeat but I also knew several of Angel Sammy’s poetic friends would point it out for us. Anyway, we love your poem – it’s sweet and a reminder that when we adopt a pet – it’s a TWO WAY STREET relative to who adopted who!

  2. An excellent opportunity to remind folks of the pleasure for humans and dogs that rescue is beneficial for all involved. Enjoyed it again.

  3. Our mom tried to find her original poem but couldn’t. Now she knows to look at Feb 2024 posts. Thanks. Your poem is terrific. Too bad that ad broke it up.
