Random Five Friday: Welcome, November

Five randoms for the first day of November:

1.) When I was a teenager, I somehow became interested in post-season baseball. I watched every playoff game and every World Series game.  It’s been many, many years since I’ve watched a game, but Motor Man and I came on board beginning with game 4 of the World Series this year. We were hooked, and watched the remaining games in their entirety. We rooted for the Nationals for two reasons: one, they’re the closer to us team. And also in memory of a friend  who passed away recently who was a huge Nats fan.

2.) I do like getting dressed up for Halloween, something I never really did as a child. Motor Man and I got in the spirit just to go to dinner last night.  I was a stray kitty, and he was the animal control officer. (The belt was around my arm…. to “take me in” to the pound.) “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

3.) This weekend, our little town hosts a Holiday Open House with several shops participating. The forecast is for perfect fall-like weather. Pictured below is one of the rooms at Wharf Hill Antiques, always a beautiful shop.

4. Our weekend might also include a day trip and perhaps a little balloon chasing. Conditions should be favorable.

5.) This is a recent picture Marshall sent of his kitty, Sibyl.  She can’t wait for him to get home in the afternoon. That’s the sign of a happy kitty.

How will you spend the weekend? Any fall foliage in your area?

Monday Morning Mews: Special Occasion!

Hi, there, readers! This is Gypsy, wishing you all a Happy New Year.  AND, we are celebrating another special occasion today:

Motor Man’s birthday!

So, not only am I here today, but so is my sisfur, Sundae!

Here is my furry favorite picture of Motor Man and me, taken when I was just a tiny little kitten.

Now, I’ve grown up and become his adviser.  We spend lots of time researching ways to make more horsepower. Here we’re discussing our latest findings on the internet.

And now, heeeere’s Sundae!

Hi, efurryone!  This is Sundae, wishing Motor Man a wonderful birthday!  He’s such a smart man: when I first adopted my pawrents and came to live with them, I cried for several days. Motor Mommy was almost at the end of her rope, but Motor Man just said: “We don’t know how long she’s been living in that little cage. Now she has a whole house to explore and get accustomed to.  She’ll be fine.”  And he was right!  Motor Mommy took this picture of us Christmas Day.  Motor Man was asking me what had my attention out the window.

Along with Motor Mommy and Marshall, we’re all wishing a FURRY Happy Birthday to our Motor Man!  We love you!

Gypsy’s Journal – Page 7

Hi, folks, Gypsy here – after a furry long absence.  Looking back on Motor Mommy’s blog info, I see that it’s been almost a year since I have posted anything to my journal.

But, I’m back, and hopefully, I’ll be sharing my news with you more often in the future.

Last week, Motor Mommy needed to wrap a birthday gift for a friend, and she brought it to our shop.  I immediately sensed that she needed my assistance, and I was more than ready to oblige.  Humans are so inept at some tasks.

Motor Mommy’s furriends, Donna and Shirley, said that lavender is my color.

And Marshall said that I look like I’m wearing a beauty pageant sash.  I think Marshall is on to something; purrhaps I should seek out some pageants to enter.

Now….what to choose for my talent part of the program? Hmmmm…..decisions, decisions.

Maybe gift-wrapping would be an option?  I bet those judges would be impressed with my skills.

Chessie Revealed!

Friday, I shared this photo and challenged you to find Marshall’s kitty, Chessie.

So, how did you do?  Did you find Chessie?

She was quite well hidden, wasn’t she? Here’s a close-up.

Marshall also shared this photo that he took recently of Chessie, taking time to ” “stop and smell the roses flowers”.

And just hangin’ out with her brother, Snugg.

Marshall seems to have a knack for catching great photos of his kitties.  I’m glad he likes to share.

For Gypsy’s Fan Club

Gypsy’s fan club members have spoken: they want to see pictures of her.  They say it’s been too long since she’s been featured here on These Days. So, by popular demand, here are a few recent pictures of Gyp-Gyp.

Look who she met last week. I’m sure Santa Paws going to bring her lots of prezzies; she’s been a very good kitty this year.

Gypsy’s favorite place is on Motor Man’s shoulder. We think it goes back to when she was just a baby and first adopted us:

When Motor Man is at his desk, she will sit in front of him until he lies back in his chair, then she moves up on his shoulder. It’s unusual for me to see her there; she usually only does that when he’s at the shop alone. Sometimes, she’ll lie there on his shoulder until he finally moves her. (Has she grown a little since she became our shop kitty?)

She also helps him when he’s at the computer.

So that’s what Gypsy’s been up to lately. And she says thank you to her fan club members for requesting photos.

Random Five Friday

Some random thoughts for the last Friday in August. This summer went by so quickly!

1.) Earlier this week, I came in our side garage door and noticed this. I have a bucket of shells on a table just inside the door, and something (I’m not sure what) had created a prism reflecting on one of the shells.

2.) Speaking of the seashore, my friend and I went shelling Wednesday. And I found a shark’s tooth!  It’s much larger than the ones I recall my friends finding when we were kids. When you think of all the sand and all the shells at the beach, it’s just amazing to find something so special. For those of you not from this area, there are no sharks in that river now, so I can’t imagine how old this is.

3.) Today is Motor Mum’s (Motor Man’s Mom’s) birthday.  We honored her at a party earlier this week, but will celebrate again at dinner this evening.

4.) And at Motor Mum’s birthday party, I took this picture of our great niece, Livy, while she was playing in the yard. I love her expression; sweet little  barefoot-girl innocence.

5.) One of my blogging friends said good-bye to her sweet kitty this week, and another is awaiting test results on her kitty. It’s important to indulge in those tummy rubs whenever the invitation arises.

Happy Labor Day weekend, friends. Be safe.

(A Wild) Random Five Friday

Well, folks, we’ve landed on Friday again. And that means it’s time for a little randomness:

1.) My view last Friday morning at sunrise.  Do you see my “guest”?  There were several along the marsh, but I was only able to get a picture of one.

2.) Continuing with the wildlife theme, Sundae had some guests of her own the other day. I heard her “chattering” at something outside,  and when I looked, I saw this.

3.) More wildlife:  can you spot the bird’s nest, complete with eggs? You may need to click to enlarge. Yes, this is the wreath on our front door. Now, before we open the door, we have to be sure Mama Bird isn’t on the nest. That resulted in a bird-in-the-house one time several years ago. Marshall to the rescue; he happened to be visiting, caught the bird and escorted it back outside.

4.) Still more wildlife: this picture was taken Wednesday evening just a few miles from our house. I think these two were on a date:

5.) Okay, I think I’ve run out of wild…. oh, wait…there IS this…

Happy weekend!

UPDATE:  I just discovered that Nancy is on spring break, so there is no Random Five Friday this week at A Rural Journal.  But…there is one here at These Days!
