One day last month, Bride Swan visited around the time of sunset.
I was waiting for her….with bread in hand. I threw out the first morsel.
Bride Swan was a little slow paddling over to the bread, and in the meantime, a seagull wasted no time spotting it.
And then, he seemed to taunt her a bit after taking her bread. (This photo was featured in the local section of our daily paper a couple of weeks ago.)
And then he was off.
Leaving poor Bride Swan to ponder this whole sharing business.

Beautiful shots! I am so jealous of your views!
What a rascal that seagull is!

Poor Bride Swan….gotta be QUICK to beat a hungry seagull!

Happy congrats on having your photo published! You’re a regular celebrity!
Awww poor Bride Swan! Those gulls are quick thiefs.
Great photos. I wish they would publish your pictures in our part of the paper.
Great photo story. She does look a bit bewildered. I wish you lived closer. I serve as altar guild coordinator for our second service at church and always we are left with left over communion bread that must be given back to Nature. I always seek out a family who enjoys feeding the ducks, otherwise Rick takes it to the farm to leave out by the pond or in the pastures. I wish I could share some of that bread with Bride Swan.
What a little scoundrel! This reminds me of the squirrels that taunt my wiener dogs in the backyard.
I hope you had more bread for the Bride Swan since she was so patient while the THIEF stole her snack!
Lovely shots!
Clearly, that was stealing but nice that she decides to amend her thinking and declare it sharing. Quite regal of her. I would be plotting his death.
LOL 🙂

Hey, I forgot to congratulate you on getting published in the paper!
So…Congratulations!

Congratulations on having your photo published! They are nice!
Sharing is definitely more fun sometimes than others! Looks like this was one of those other times! By the way, I just noticed your “currently in bloom” photo…I like that idea! Very charming. You’ve probably had this up and I just hadn’t noticed before. Sometimes I’m slow like that! ~ Sheila
love your photos. I think it is terrific that your photo was published in the newspaper. Congratulations!!! have a wonderful day.
poor girl! a little slow on the uptake! congrats on getting your photo published! 🙂
Oh, those seagulls are such rascals! They swoop in out of nowhere and grab what they can (remembering cautioning my children at the beach about eating!). I’m not surprised that sneaky guy stole Bride Swan’s bread but to taunt her too??? Naughty creature! Congrats on the published photo!! :-).
Congratulations on getting a photo published in the paper! Loved them. Those seagulls, they’re always out for a bite to eat!
Congratulations on your photo being published, that’s a great honor and speaks highly of your talents and gifts. Bride Swan is a beauty. She has such a sweet and loving look. Seagulls certainly aren’t a bit shy. They’re pretty though. Great photos, Thanks for sharing them with us. 🙂
The perfect shot should get published! Congrats! I happen to know that Bride swan gets plenty to eat so I can’t feel sorry for her. But this proves that birds of a feather don’t flock together! She knows those pesky seagulls are nasty.
Great shots!! Perfect light and wonderful narrative. I think about you when I’m out walking and I see birds, or pass people’s houses with toys on the lawn…whatever it might be. I love inventing stories to go with what I’m seeing. I’m not as in tune to it with animals as you are, but it’s so neat the way you tell us their tales! And nice job with the published photo! Very cool!
Those seagulls get good at this type of thing because they do it so much.. Gotta be quick to get a morsel … but Bride knows there will be more bread to come!
Beautiful shots and the swan is so pretty….graceful….and that dang seagull is naughty!!!!
Bride Swan looks quite forlorn in that last pic. Great shots!
Wow! Published in the paper – way to go Dianna!
Great photos, and Congrats on getting published.
I am amazed that Bride Swan remained so well behaved. They are NOT the nicest of birds, beautiful as they are. I remember being chased as a kid!
Early bird get the worm!! I always wanted to say that! Ha Ha
Gulls need to learn to share. They’re not very good at that!
