Our most recent trip to the Carova Beach area of the Outer Banks included a visit with our friends, Mike and Renee, from Ohio. We met them a couple of years ago on the beach when she and I were both taking pictures of “our” wild horses.
Now whenever they are in the area, Motor Man and I drive down to meet them, and we all go in search of horses together.
We were certainly not disappointed on this particular day: we saw over 50 horses, and the majority of them were down at the water’s edge.
It was a really hot day, so beach umbrellas were in use….by both humans and equines, apparently.
Although we see horses by the water frequently in the summertime, seeing them in the surf is a bit more unusual and always a treat.
“I’ve still got some sand in my shoes on my back.” This one had just finished rolling in the sand before wading in the water.
I shot this video of him enjoying the water and was really pleased once I uploaded it to the computer. It’s about a minute and half long, but the very best part comes in the last few seconds. No music with this one, just the sound of the wind and the surf.
We couldn’t let the day end without a picture of the four of us with horses in the background.
And thanks, Mike, for this one of Motor Man and me; you even got him to smile.
We’re already looking forward to your next visit when we can once again “return to the scene”.
