Yesterday, Motor Man and I took a day trip to the Outer Banks. It’s been about four weeks since we’d been. Seeing ‘my’ wild horses this time of year is a little hit and miss. During the winter, they spend much of the time in the ‘brush’ where they’re protected from the weather.
The ocean was so calm and beautiful.
Although the temps were cool, it was a gorgeous day, and we saw a total of 29 horses. That’s a good number for a winter’s day. Many of them were on the dunes, where evidently there’s a good food source right now.
It’s always fun when we’re stopped, and one walks right by our vehicle.
As we passed through the village of Corolla, we took a little drive through the park, which is home to the Currituck Lighthouse. I was pleased with this shot I captured.
And on the way home, we noticed this beautifully decorated historic property. This is Tara Elizabeth Manor, c. 1917, located in Jarvisburg, NC. We pass by this old home on every trip to and from the beach, but we never really noticed it until yesterday.
And this was what originally caught our eye: the 1949 Ford Truck parked in the yard.
I did a little research and discovered a Facebook page for Tara Elizabeth Manor. It was purchased in 2016, and has been completely renovated/restored.
As I’ve said before, we always see something different on each trip to the beach.

Glad you were able to get a “beach fix” during the holiday……lots of horses out and about on a sunny day. Love that house and the truck – both of which are decorated BEAUTIFULLY.

Beautiful pictures and always interesting when you see something old in an initially new light!
Happy new year.
Looks like another fun-filled excursion – with great pics !
I just put out a ‘yard expressions’ sign at the shop with a red truck that looks exactly like this one you captured here – wreath & all !
So glad you had a chance for your day trip to the beach, What a treat to see that lovely house and truck.
Oh how BEAUTIFUL!!! ALL of your shots. We love the Currituck Lightouse and park too – especially Whalehead. It’s on our top everytime we go to Corolla. The blue of the ocean, the horses feeding, and the beautifully decorated home with truck were definitely worth the 4 weeks’ wait.
You know I loved the lighthouse shot!! And that historic home is so beautiful.
