Poetic Thursday: Grandma’s Kitchen

Another Thursday, another poem. I look forward to joining Pam and her kitty boys, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats each Thursday as we share poetry.

They provided us with this sweet photo for this week’s inspiration:

Here’s my poem:

Grandma’s Kitchen

Grandma’s kitchen: let me take you there.
We’ll savor the aromas that fill the air.

The smell of coffee: hot and strong.
“Kin folks” visit most all day long.

No microwave or electric stove,
but if you love vintage, it’s a treasure trove.

An enamel table and linoleum floor,
an old “ice box”, a wooden screen door.

Love and good food, we had more than our share;
made even more special, because Grandma was there.

  1. Oh, I LOVE the memories you invoked in your poem this morning. Great memories. And you might even find a ‘skirt’ around that sink in some kitchens. Love your poem.

  2. Yes I think we all got the same feelings from the photo this week. Home sweet home. “The way it was” was a pretty nice way!

  3. Bravo …

Right away you alerted us to the fact that you were taking us to a place..
    and you did ….
more great imagery – I might not even have thought of coffee or kin folks – but now I can smell the coffee and hear the relatives …

    Well done, my friend!!

  5. Precious memories captured perfectly in your poem. Was that enough ‘p’s’ in that sentence??? 😉
