Eleven years ago today, I published my first blog post. You can find it here.
From the first idea I had of becoming a blogger, I knew two things:
1.) That my inaugural post would be about Bacon’s Castle
2.) That my blog wouldn’t have a theme. My posts would just be random, thus “These Days Of Mine” seemed a good title.
Looking back, I’m quite surprised that I was able to figure out how to set up a blog site. Motor Man has said more than once that he fully expected the computer to be sent flying through a window at any moment during that whole process.
In the beginning, I published a blog post every day. Seven days a week. Mondays and Wednesdays, I posted about ‘whatever’. On Tuesdays, I participated in Barn Charm, on Thursdays, I chose a prompt from Mama Kat’s Writers’ Workshop and wrote about that, and on Fridays, I closed out the week with Friday’s Fences. Sunrise Saturday and Sunset Sunday took care of the weekends.
But soon, blogging every day began to feel like a chore, so I dropped back to just weekdays, and now I blog on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Here are a few stats:
Currently, 1331 readers are subscribed to my blog.
“These Days Of Mine” has had over 449,000 views
There have been over 165,000 visitors to my blog
And more than 36,000 comments have been left by my readers
It’s hard to choose, but I think this may be my personal favorite post: Where I’m From
And this post had the most views at 9,563: Street Rods, Part 2, Rat Rods
I’ve come to know many wonderful bloggers, and remain Facebook friends with many of them. Several I’ve met in person, including those from my home state of Virginia, as well as Alaska, Pennsylvania, Texas, North Carolina and Michigan.
So thank you to all of you who follow my blog, like my posts, comment on the blog or on the Facebook link and to those of you who just quietly stop by to see what’s happening here at These Days Of Mine.
Hoping for at least eleven more.
